Startup smartly invests in great domain name.
A startup has purchased the domain name Jumprope.com for $200,000.
The startup is headed by Jake Poses, who was previously VP of Product at Thumbtack. Prior to that, he was with Bain Capital.
Jakob Knightly brokered the transaction.
The domain name was previously used for a store that sold jump ropes. As of right now the domain forwards to KangaRope.com, the name that the seller now uses for its business.
Jumprope.com is an example of a great positive-connotation domain name that can be branded for many businesses. In fact, there’s an existing education company that uses the brand name Jumprope…and the domain hack jumpro.pe. Ouch.

nice domain but i don’t believe its worth 200k. good sale for the seller in my opinion.

It is a massive overpayment, but hey, that is likely to be the outcome when trying to buy off an enduser.

Oh, thats so wrong in how many ways? What was the guy thinking, what about JumpRope.co or .net or holy almost anything. That hack is just sooooo wrong.
Now JumpRope.com, previously sold at 12k so if I stumbled across it I would have wanted it at wholesale which would have been below that. At 200k I think they overspent a bit but I guess they had to make it worthwhile to the business using it.
All around a great day in the domaining world.

I don’t think the price is outlandish. If you want to name your company Jumprope, it’s smart to buy this domain. It’s better than buying jumpro.pe.
So you’re dealing with a unique asset. This is a classic end user. Would it sell for less between two domain investors? Of course. It’s liquidation value is certainly less than $200k, but I don’t think this is bad for a great domain for a business.

Excellent domain. Win-win for buyer and seller.
Lots of branding possibilities with this one.
Jumpers, Ropers,
Jump roped, Jump rope,
and yes, a giant jump above another registrant’s jumpro.pe

Dynamite brokering by Mr. Knightly. The kind of classic bridge-building the industry can always use 😀
