Premium renewal domains can now be syndicated through SedoMLS.
Sedo announced a new arrangement with Donuts this week, but I think the bigger news was secondary to the headline.
The headline announcement was that Donuts is now listing its platinum domains through SedoMLS. These are the very expensive domains (think $25k and up) that Rightside and Donuts held back to negotiate sales rather than listing at fixed prices through the registrar channel.
It’s two other items in the announcement that caught my attention.
First, all registrants of domains that carry premium renewals can now list their domains in SedoMLS. This means that domains listed for sale on SedoMLS could come with more than just a higher upfront cost; they can also have a higher renewal.
This is okay as long as it’s clear to buyers that the domains have a higher renewal price and that renewal price is disclosed. There has been a lot of controversy over .tv domains that have premium domains and buyers not being aware. For this reason, I’m cautious about buying .tv domains on the aftermarket.
The second item in the announcement was the disclosure of some Donuts platinum sales that took place on Sedo prior to the new SedoMLS deal. They’re nothing like home.loans for $500,000 and the.club for $300,000. Still, it will give you an idea of other registry-direct activity in the market. Unfortunately, they were all purchased by one person, so it doesn’t paint a broad picture. The sales are:
Super.market $25,000
Black.market $30,000
TV.show $35,000
The.news $50,000
Really cool! Could i know as a registrar how can i join SedoMLS?
