There was movement on the top .com registrars rankings in the most recent ICANN report.
ICANN has published the latest official .com transactions report from Verisign, which includes data by registrar for September 2017.
Here are the top registrars in terms of new .com registrations for September. Namecheap lept to #3 on the chart. It registered its typical number of .com domains but PublicDomainRegistry’s registrations plummeted, pushing Namecheap up the list.
1. GoDaddy* 886,189
2. Tucows** 184,234
3. Namecheap 125,162
4. HiChina 120,405
5. Bizcn.com 109,715
When it comes to net inbound transfers (transfer gains minus transfer losses) for registrars open to the public, here are the top five gainers. This list excludes registrars that aren’t open to the public.
1. HiChina +126,111 (compared to +34,959 in August)
2. GoDaddy +11,482
3. MAFF Inc (XZ.com) +8,277
4. Epik +7,746
5. NameSilo +6,450
On the flip side, these five registrars saw the biggest net outflow of .com domain names due to transfers:
1. Ename -49,243 (I assume this accounts for some of HiChina’s inbound transfers)
2. EIMS.cn -17,497
3. Domain.com -13,512
4. DNS.com.cn -12,676
5. PublicDomainRegistry -8,418
*Includes GoDaddy and Wild West Domains **Includes Tucows and Enom
