A bit later than expected, CentralNic completes acquisition of .sk country code manager.
Domain name registry CentralNic (London AIM: CNIC) has completed its acquisition of SK-NIC, the company that controls the .sk country code top level domain name for Slovakia.
When the deal was originally announced in late August, CentralNic planned to acquire only assets of the company. On December 1, CentralNic announced that the deal had been changed to an outright acquisition of the company.
CentralNic paid €20.27 million cash plus incentives up to €5.85 million through 2023 for a total maximum purchase price of €26.12 million.
The deal faced opposition from many in the local internet community.
There are about 360,000 registered .sk domain names.
