Expect heavy discounts on new TLDs.
This Friday is Black Friday and that means that lots of deals are on their way. If you’ve been thinking about hand registering a bunch of domain names, it might be worth waiting until Thursday or Friday. This is especially true if you want to register new top level domain names.
While it hasn’t given specific details, Namecheap will offer up to 99% off certain domain names. You can bet these are new TLDs rather than .com. Uniregistry typically offers big discounts on its own domains around Black Friday, and I expect other registrars and registries to join the fun.
The best opportunity is likely if there are a few terms that you’d like to register across multiple new TLDs. They might be a long shot for resale within a year, but if you can get some great trending terms in multiple TLDs for a dollar or two, it might be worth the risk. (Of course, domains marked as premiums will cost more.)
.Com promotions aren’t unheard of on Black Friday, either. So keep your eyes open.

It’s not the first-year prices that keep me away from some of these new extensions—it’s the renewal fees. Except in a handful of cases, renewal prices above $30 per year present too much risk, too much of a financial commitment. It’s like bringing a wild animal into the house. You never know when it’s going to bite you.
For new TLDs, a good Black Friday sale would have low renewal prices.
