Hugedomains had a “buy now” price on the domain name.
One of the top news stories over the past few days has been about film producer Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein, known for producing films such as Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting and Scream, has faced a number of allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault.
During all of the uproar, someone noticed that HugeDomains.com had HarveyWeinstein.com for sale for a buy now price of $695. They scooped it up. (DomainTools has the asking price archived. Sometimes these numbers aren’t passed through correctly, but a couple archived screenshots of the site have a price near $695.)
The domain name now points to a coming soon page that says the site is undergoing maintenance and will be online shortly. It also includes the email address info@harveyweinstein.com.
Will someone develop the site to track the allegations against Weinstein? The potential of that is one more reason celebrities should lock up their .com domain name.

This will be a case study in personal brand protection of his team didn’t grab it. Obviously the guy has more issues then domain problems but what a massive oversight.

Maybe Lisa Bloom will help Harvey file a UDRP

Maybe you could try harder not to be a troll.

I am surprise they didn’t put the name for a higher price but at the same time there is so much risk with it that just simply selling it at a profit makes sense.I think there will be a legal battle over this domain for sure at some point.
When it comes to names of popular well known celebrities there is a higher risk than a more common general name. I wonder if the risk is worth the potential profit/reward.

Depends on what they do with the domain.
Howie says
I checked the domain yesterday and noticed the maintenance lander too, archive had a $1195 tag on it. I assumed it had just sold.
Andrew Allemann says
Yeah I’ve seen $1195 and $895 on historical landers.

Interesting, looks like Harvey/Miramax/Disney owned this name a while years ago, let it drop then HugeDomains.com had it (Publicly) the last 3 or so years then suddenly private and sold.
Andrew, just ask HugeDomains if they sold it under privacy setting or they let it drop 10 months ago after owning it for years. Just a thought 🙂
Domainer says
Don’t forget, there are more than one person in the world with that name.
(I feel bad for them right now. )
Or, did one of the movie studios pick it up to use with the movie about him in the future. 🙂
Josh says
Let me ask, how do we know it actually sold? I only ask because HigeDomains owned it for years after Disney/Miramax and then it went private at Namebright (Hugedomains). So how do we know it sold?

The Weinstein Company has had a series of box office bombs over the last few years, and the Company has been close to going belly up. Maybe not a coincidence that so many women are recounting tales of assault, unwanted advances. I can’t see how Harvey can recover from this — fired from the company he founded, wife divorcing him, children abandoning him, fighting with his brother, and the Pandora’s box is open — expect dozens of more women to come forward with allegations of assault and maybe even rape.
HarveyWeinstein.com — the domain — I see little value in this name/URL, with all the negative content on the web now associated with the name. But it could have value for authors who will be writing Harvey Weinstein books and publishers promoting them, so I could be wrong.

That looks like a Greg Ostrick kinda holding page, to ransom ahh flip
Paul says
They should just buy it from them. It would be easier. Idiots for not buying it when they had the chance. News say sitrick and company is doing work for them.
