Domain investor switches brand from XF.com to Napkin.com.
Meystedt revealed today that he’s rebranding his investment business from XF.com to Napkin.com.
Earlier this month I wrote about Napkin.com selling for $18,995 on NameJet and noted “What a great brand this will make for a food related business.”
But Meystedt had another vision:
Napkin.com was perfect for me – it’s simple to remember, it’s a generic word and it represents the beginning of the entrepreneurial process for the people that I am supporting – the back of the napkin business model that many of us have sketched in the past.
This is what I love about domains like this. They can become a brand with a connection to so many different images.
Switching to Napkin.com also makes it easier for Meystedt to sell XF.com, a very valuable domain name.
yeah im sure its because he doesn’t want to turn down million dollar offers. napkin is a good generic but can also be looked at as something you throw away after use.

A few years ago I owned MyNapkin.com and thought it could be used in a similar way. Ending up dropping it. His site looks good and with his experience he should do well with it. Hope he gets a great price for his XF.com domain when he sells it. Congrats.
I think it is a lousy domain for the business it is intended for, he tries to imitate garage.com
Why not use your Symbolics.com as your domain marketing website. Napkin as a term doesn’t fit well with your type of business. Not that you couldn’t spend millions in marketing. But I don’t think you have Apple’s advertising budget.
For people interested to build a business on the generic meaning of napkin, I offer napkins.co for sale, from which they later eventually could upgrade to the singular dotcom.

Pretty confident that’s all you need to know and all that’s going on here, so a sensible move in that sense. The rest just seems like b——t and ditto some of the sentiments above.

All they have to do now is take the plunge with domain names and IP, and this could be really good for the world and domain investors (though perhaps not for the established ones who may not like this kind of phenomenon and competition).

I can understand the confusion. I meant that he won’t have to switch his @xf.com email and the content to a new site because he’s already done it.
