Service targets people who can handle the domain transfer themselves.
Domain name marketplace Sedo has added a new domain name escrow option through a partnership with Escrow.domains, a service offered by law firm Greenberg & Lieberman, LLC.
The service is in addition to Sedo’s existing escrow offering for domain transactions not initiated on its marketplace. The existing service manages the transfer of the domain name in addition to handling funds, so the new service is a more affordable option for people who can handle the transfer themselves.
Buyers and sellers can upload custom contracts as part of the transaction.
Fees for the new service are the same as if you start a transaction directly on Escrow.domains. They start at 0.89% of the transaction price.
Sedo’s existing “hands on” escrow service has a 3% fee.
I look at the new offering as a sort of referral program from a trusted domain name marketplace.
I clicked through to the Sedo site and had a read. From what I can establish this escrow service, powered by escrow.domains, only supports transactions in USD. The traditional Sedo external transfer service, charged at 3%, supports transactions in USD, EUR and GBP.
Greenberg & Lieberman can handle transactions in any currency. The EscrowDomains platform will be adding on multiple currencies in the near term

What is the extent of the verification policy?
What do you mean by verification?
Not having to verify your buyers/sellers identity through them would be the only reason why I would use them over Escrow.com. I would use them in those cases where it may be a burden for my buyer/seller to go through their verification process.
I would imagine escrow.domains has to follow the same rules.
Sedo doesn’t thus the question.
Hi David, Thanks so much for posing these questions. To further clarify, there is not one set method that Sedo (along with our partner on this particular service, Escrow Domains) use to conduct user verifications. Verification instead is done on a case by case basis depending on the transaction details and information provided by the parties. Hope this helps!
