Off to Seattle, the center of the domain name universe.
125 people from the domain name industry are expected to attend the sold-out DNSeattle meetup at Amazon.com’s headquarters on Thursday evening. The event is organized by Michael Cyger of DomainSherpa.
This year’s meetup is from 6-9 PM on Thursday and features an interview with domain broker Andrew Rosener titled “Selling Ice to Eskimos.” Rightside attorney Statton Hammock will transform into DJ STATN to play tunes at the event.
Proceeds from DNSeattle benefit cancer charity Fred Hutch.
I attended last year’s event and found it to be a great networking opportunity and a chance to catch up with people I hadn’t seen since NamesCon. I will be in Seattle for this year’s event as well and will provide a wrap next week.

Safe flight. See you Thursday, Andrew!

I’m stoked that you’ll be returning, Andrew! It’s an exceptional “meetup.” And fitting to have an important event in the home of the some of the earliest domain conferences. http://www.dnjournal.com/columns/cover050905roundtable.htm

I don’t think they thought the title/headliner through. On one hand, it indicates solid sales skills, but on the other it indicates the selling of things that are not solutions to a problem, since eskimos have plenty of ice already in the region they live in. If what is being sold is not a genuine solution, then one would have to ask themselves whether that eskimo will ever do repeat business when they realize it. I may have gone too deep on translating that one.
