Two large namespaces will now be available for hosting in China.
China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has approved five of Afilias’ top level domain names for sale and use in China, including three “old” domain names and two new top level domain names.
Most notable is .info, a top level domain name with over 5 million registrations. .Mobi, a shrinking domain space meant for mobile websites, and .Pro also got the nod.
Two of the five top level domain names are new top level domain names, and it seems that Afilias selected them for their relevance to Asia.
What’s the first color you think of when you think of China? .Red?
.Kim was the other new TLD approved. Kim is the most popular surname next door in South Korea.
You can buy one word .mobi for like $20, nobody wants them, I think 2009 was it
Interesting. Just in case.info takes off there we just regd ChunJin.info ” Solid Gold”
I did pretty well on my NNN.info’s at the tail end of 2015.
Had a few of them.
What goes around comes around so everything’s in play.
Seems to have sparked a .INFO land grab – Over 150,000 domains registered in past few days alone. Another bubble no doubt.
Before 2017, they could not buy a .info domain name ?
