Two .NYC domain names top $30k each in online auction.
A fashion-themed auction of .NYC domain names just closed at SnapNames with Fashion.nyc taking the top spot at $37,000.
It was followed by Shop.nyc at $33,500.
Although Fashion.nyc and Shop.nyc are great domain names, I think some of the less expensive domains were better relative values. Consider Jewelry.nyc for $1,700, Salon.nyc for $500 and Boutique.nyc for $700.
Three One domain name–Bras.nyc, Sneakers.nyc, and Swimsuit.nyc–did not sell.
Total sales were over $90,000, so the auction easily topped the total gross from the recent real estate auction.
Here are the unofficial results:
Fashion.nyc 37000

UNBELIEVABLE. I wish I could make that font even bigger here.
I’m referring to the lower prices there, which are absolute STEALS for some of them. Wow, if only I still had NYC nexus…
That’s a real wake up call, and demonstrates how those with the means have work to do.
If NYC residents and businesses were so clueless and unable to recognize the opportunity there, then that means there is a LOT of work to do still educating people about such assets in 2017… Or is it even possible this was not sufficiently publicized ahead of time?
I just heard a toilet flush.
@John,
Couldn’t agree more.
Thanks, Joseph. I’m not getting new comment emails from the blogs anymore, so I only just noticed this now. That’s just plain crazy for .nyc’s like that.
When the new extension domain names get In use on tv, magazines, and billboards, that will supply the education!
salon.nyc sounds like it would make a good directory site, as does suits.nyc!
Even just for exactly what the words describe, those prices are simply CRAZY, as in bonkers, as in stark raving mad. And those of us who have any significant history in NYC may perhaps have an even keener apprehension of that.
