DPML Plus will be available until the end of March, and regular DPML price will remain unchanged through the end of January.
New top level domain name company Donuts is extending its Domains Protected Marks List (DPML) Plus service, making it available until the end of March 2017.
The Plus service is an upgraded version of its standard patent-pending DPML product, which is designed to allow brand owners to block domains matching their trademarks from being registered in any of Donuts nearly 200 top level domains.
Buyers of Plus get to block not only the matching string, but also three additional strings that contain the brand or typos. It also allows users to unblock for use the string in any TLD without additional fees (beyond registration) and the blocks can be applied to premium strings. The Plus product also prevents other companies from overriding the string in one of the TLDs to register a domain name.
DPML Plus has a $9,999 MSRP and lasts for ten years. Donuts calculates the cost of registering a string and three variants in all of its TLDs at over a quarter million dollars for the ten years.
Donuts declined to state how many customers have signed up for DPML Plus, but presumably the service is getting traction.
Donuts also announced that it is extending current pricing for its standard DPML product until the end of January. That offering has a retail price of around $2,500-$3,000 retail, and the price was set to significantly increase on January 1. Now, brand owners have an additional month before the price hike.
