A megachurch in Texas and Halliburton both bought domain names last week.
Sedo’s biggest public sale over the past week was HotBot.com for $155,000. I wrote about it yesterday, so for this post I’ll focus on another big sale: Celebration.church. This domain name under Donuts’ .church domain sold for a whopping $18,000.
What kind of church can spend 18 grand worth of tithes on a domain name? A megachurch, of course. There are multiple megachurches with this name, but the one in Georgetown, TX (a distant suburb of Austin) bought the domain name. It is now forwarding its old domain name CelebrationChurchTX.com to Celebration.Church.
Here are other recent domain name purchases at Sedo:

HotBot.com $155,000 – I wrote about this one yesterday. Lycos sold the domain name to as as-yet-unknown buyer.
Celebration.church $18,000 – Celebration Church in Georgetown, Texas (just north of Austin) has been using the domain namne CelebrationChurch.tx.
LuxuryRugs.com $5,000 – Metis flooring Ltd in Great Britain.
CleverBase.com $4,880 – Joris Tinbergen appears to have a number of startups under his belt.
Fahrtwind.com €4,000 – laugh all you want, but this translates to slipstream (as in a car) in German. The domain is being used for an auto parts site.
YarnStudio.com $4,000 – I suspect that Drops Design AS’ website name GarnStudio.com, when spoken by Norwegians, sounds a like YarnStudio.com.
Athelas.com €3,000 – Athelas Inc sells a portable diagnostic/health system. It is upgrading from GetAthelas.com.
EPCloud.com $2,650 – Halliburton has a division called Landmark. E&P stands for Exploration and Production. (As a side note, Landmark uses the domain name Landmark.solutions.)
Eurobikes.com $2,640 – Eurobikes S.L.U bought the .com to go with its .es (Spain) domain name.
SkinClub.com $2,495 – Beyond Digital is a marketing agency, so this is likely for a client.
ASK4.be $5,750 – ASK4, a student broadband services company, bought the .be (Belgium) domain to go along with its .com.
FanClub.org $2,180 – the buyer works for Abenity, which offers discount club services.
BlimpDrones.com $3,000 – Microflight Inc sells remote-controlled blimps.
SamInternational.com $8,000 – SAM International B.V., which uses the matching .eu domain name
I sold AskFour.com last year to ask4 for mid xxxx.
Drop Designs is a knitting designer. Garn means yarn in at least German, Swedish and Danish.
