Company to run ads during pre- and post- debate coverage.
GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY) didn’t advertise during the Super Bowl this year, but it’s going to spend a lot of money on TV ads coinciding with upcoming U.S. Presidential debates.
The company has a new election-themed commercial that will run before and after the first two presidential debates. (There are no commercials during the debates themselves.)
The commercial will premiere on CNN during pre-debate coverage Monday and also run on CBS and FOX News during post-debate coverage. They will also run to coincide with the second debate.
CBS is charging about $200,000-$225,000 for 30-second spots during its post-debate coverage.
Verisign is co-sponsoring the ads, which offer a $2.99 .com domain name for the first year when purchased for two or more years. The second year is $14.99, so really the offer is $8.99 per year with a two-year registration.
The commercial is embedded below.
I noticed how they are continuing the presidential theme on the Godaddy homepage also. Smart to tie it all in as one marketing pitch.
We’ll see a spike in election-themed domain registrations during and after that debate.
Funny that they are promoting .com and throwing the new gtlds under the bus. Smart move on their part. People are just not interested in the .crapollas
