These tools help you sell more on your Shopify store.
Shopify is an easy way to start an ecommerce store on your domain name. As one of the larger hosted online store systems, it also attracts a lot of third-party developers that create plugins (called apps) that you can add to your store.
Here are four plugins I’ve used that can drive more sales.
A lot of stores offer free or reduced-cost shipping on orders over a certain amount. Free Shipping Bar helps promote this deal to customers by highlighting it at the top of the screen and informing customers how much more they need to add to their cart in order to qualify. You can see it in action at the GloFish store, promoting a shipping discount on orders over $49.
Free plans; paid plans start at $24/month
It can be difficult to close a sale the first time a customer visits your online store. Privy helps you gather email addresses from visitors to improve post-visit conversions.
You can set up Privy to capture email addresses in many ways. One is to show a pop-up offer for a discount on their order. You can require visitors to enter their email address and then instantly give them a coupon code.
Privy integrates with MailChimp so you can add prospective customers to a follow-up email sales campaign.
Beautiful Abandoned Cart Emails
$5 per month
Shopify’s built-in abandoned cart recovery system limits you to just one follow-up email.
This app allows you to send two customized abandoned cart notices to people who started to check out but didn’t complete the process. I wish the emails had more customization options but they are a nice improvement over Shopify’s default tool.
$17 per month per operator
Olark enables you to provide customer chat capability on your website.
I’ve never been a fan of the name (are you larking around?) but the system does what it says at an affordable price.
Customers can initiate conversations with you or you can initiate the conversation. You can even trigger a conversation invitation when the customer takes a certain action, such as adding a product to their cart. You can also monitor what’s in their cart when you chat with them.
