Domainer advocacy group bolsters board.
Internet Commerce Association (ICA), a group that advocates for domain name investors, has appointed two new members to its board.
Zak Muscovitch and Jay Chapman have been appointed to the board joining Nat Cohen, Jeremiah Johnston (Sedo) and Daniel Law (Rook Media).
Muscovitch (podcast) is a domain name trademark attorney. Chapman is President of Digimedia, an Oklahoma company that owns some of the world’s best generic domain names.
With three board members not representing Platinum ICA members, this is the first time that the majority of the board represents at-large members.
In a statement to Domain Name Wire, Muscovitch said:
I have been fighting to protect domain name investors’ rights for 17 years and there is no better place to continue this work than under the auspices of the ICA. Over the past 10 years, the ICA has consistently and forcefully advocated for the interests of domain name owners and I am honored to serve as a Board member on behalf of the domain name investment community. The distinguished members who support the ICA know that the ICA has been there and will be there when domain name owner rights are threatened. I have witnessed first-hand the impact that the ICA has had under the impressive leadership of Jeremiah, Daniel, Nat, and Phil, and look forward to assisting them with this important work, especially when it comes to the UDRP. I also look forward to helping to increase ICA membership by communicating the importance of its work to the domain name community.
Chapman said:
The ICA has long provided a vital voice on behalf of domain registrants and related organizations. Its voice for the community is not passive – ICA acts to promote, protect and equip with awareness. I want to help in these regards. It’s an exciting time with the continued growth and involvement of ICA and its members.
ICA has changed its membership structure over the past year to represent a broader segment of the domain name investing community. It has introduced an individual membership for $600, which can be paid $50 a month.
The group also just announced that GoDaddy’s Afternic has joined as a Gold member.
Based in part on the appointment of these two new board members and Nat Cohen’s excellent work for the organization, I have decided to join the ICA.
