Company files lawsuit in an attempt to regain control of its domain name.
NFX LLC, which runs programs to help marketplace startups, has filed a lawsuit (pdf) to recover the domain name NFX.com.
NFX claims the domain name was stolen from it sometime between September 2015 and May 2016 after an email account was hacked. The company did not immediately become aware of the theft because the thief didn’t change the nameservers for the domain name.
Of course, the thief can change the nameservers at any time, rendering the company’s website and email useless.
After hacking into the email account, the domain name was transferred fro NFX LLC’s registrar Domain.com to eName in China.
The plaintiff is represented by Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

Transferred to Ename, quelle surprise.
Joseph Peterson says
Presumably, they weren’t using 2-factor authentication.
Registrars could do a better job educating their customers about domain theft and security precautions.
