Chinese domain name company goes public.
Four months ago I wrote that Chinese domain name company eName was going public. As of yesterday, the company is now publicly traded.
China consultancy Allegravita has translated eName’s press release about going public. You can read the translation in full here (pdf).
Some highlights include:
– at year-end 2015, domain registration income was CNY215 million, taking up 82.94% of income, while domain exchange income was CNY44 million or 17.03%.
– domain registrations increased nearly 7x last year compared to 2014
– the company plans to expand into additional intellectual property services such as trademarks
The translation is excellent. Whoever did it must be good at Chinese, English, as well as IT/domain names. There is one mistake (which is easy to make, and I do often too).
我国的域名总数增至 3698万个, 万个,其中 .cn域名注册量达到 域名注册量达到 域名注册量达到 域名注册量达到 1950万个
Translation: China’s domain name total reached 369.8 million, with .CN names taking about 195 million of them
Should be: China’s domain name total reached 37 million, with .CN names taking about 20 million of them
Again, I must say the translator is a very talent person.
