Brexit cracks top ten .com trending keywords.
Verisign (NYSE:VRSN) released its top trending keywords for .com yesterday, representing the keywords that saw the biggest jump in registrations in June.
It wasn’t surprising to me to see Brexit on the list this month. I highlighted some of these registrations in a post last month.
It’s notable that Trump finally isn’t one of the keywords within the top ten. It gets harder and harder to remain on the list each month since the list represents the keywords with the biggest percentage increase, not raw numbers. With so many Trump domains registered in the past year, maybe all the good ones, mediocre ones and even crappy ones are taken.
One thing that’s interesting about Trump and domain names is that it’s going to be harder for Trump’s organizations to claim cybersquatting on domains that include Trump in them. Once you become a politician, freedom of speech really kicks in.
Here’s the list of the top ten movers in .com:
1. Worlds
2. Casino
3. Visit
4. Plastic
5. Brexit
6. Listings
7. Popup
8. Physical
9. Hearing
10. Degree
