Gambling company wants domain name registered in 1993.
A cybersquatting complaint has been filed at World Intellectual Property Organization against the domain name Circus.com.
Circus Belgium, which operates a gambling website at Circus.be, filed the claim.
The domain name is owned by Online Guru, Inc., the company that operates DMV.org.
Circus.com was registered in 1993.
As best I can tell from looking at historic screenshots, the site has always had content related to what you’d think — animals and entertainment circuses.
I’ve reached out to Online Guru’s owner to try to get more information on the filing. On the surface, this looks like a case of reverse domain name hijacking.
Circus Belgium sounds like some real asshole losers gambling company who are trying to steal a domain name from a legitimate domain owner.
If this is what they are doing, why try to be a domain thief ? Why not pay the person what the domain is worth instead of trying to steal it?
Circus Belgium should be ashamed of themselves and nobody should ever do any business with Circus Belgium, IMHO, if they really are trying to steal this domain, Circus.com just because they own Circus.be .
Circus Belgium sucks because it appears as a gambling site, whether that’s poker, blackjack, roulette because it appears they are not honest people or an honest company.
I hope a RDNH reverse domain name hijacking ruling goes against them if they are guilty and the defendant takes them to court in Belgium and sues them for not paying for the domain and trying to steal wealth from the domain’s rightful owner.
If they are guilty of doing this to a domain name owner I wonder if they are also stealing from their own gambling customers or not paying them? It really makes you wonder doesn’t it.
Go back to Belgium Circus Belgium and rot in Hell, if you are doing this illegitimately.
Domain owners are sick of your kind of people, (if you really don’t have a case.), which it appears you don’t.
Well said. All this UDRP clowns system must be review.
Just the mention, but the owner of Circus.be is Jean-Luc Defer. He is IT manager and a part time freelancer. Here is his LinkedIn profile.

His company is Concept scrl
My advice for Jean-Luc… find the money to buy the domain Circus.com because you don’t have any rights to it. His lawyer should be advise that his client has a losing case. But, with all the scrap that you see… who knows what can come out from this.
So why can’t Circus Belgium take one of the nearly 1000 shiny new gtlds that are now readily available?
Because they suck and no one wants them, that’s why.
As their suckiness becomes more apparent, .Coms will continue to increase in demand and bogus cases like this result.
“and no one wants them”
Real companies are registering new tld’s and using them. It’s a fact. Just so you know.
This case appears straight forward, hope a reverse is found.
This really cries out for balancing the system in the form of penalties for frivolous, meritless RDNH circus acts which force legitimate registrants to jump through hoops and walk tight ropes to respond to such attacks.
Cirque du Clueless. Hopefully a humiliating decision of RDNH gets slapped out.
Circus.be should be listed in HallOfShame.com
