A big three-digit sale, Pug.com and more.
NameJet had another good month, reporting nearly $1.3 million of sales over $2,000. Here are some of its more notable sales:
281.com $201,100 – This domain name was used by a company west of Austin. It’s an area code for Houston, but the buyer was (no surprise) in China.
Pug.com $61,000 – What a great, short brand name. Pug.com is worth much more to the right buyer.
Commodore.com $36,989 – A fairly high price for a domain investor. Computing nostalgia is setting in.
FireSafety.com $36,200 – This is a huge business, and a huge price if purchased by an investor.
HealthData.com $29,500 – The U.S. government’s use of HealthData.gov no doubt added to the final auction price.
Alzheimer.net $8,100 – I’m stunned by this price, especially since most people refer to it as Alzheimer’s.
Jamison.com – This is not how you spell the whiskey company, BTW. That’s Jameson.
CollegeRankings.com $4,100 – A huge topic that certainly gets a lot of searches.
Acquit.com $4,000 – If the glove doesn’t fit, you must acquit.
David.info $2,699 – What’s the going rate for popular names in .info these days?
Joseph Peterson says
There may be some regional variation in referring to “Alzheimer’s” versus “Alzheimer”.
Alzheimer-Europe.org, which is a developed website, might view Alzheimer.net as an attractive upgrade. And I doubt they’re alone.

Great point, Joseph

281 is also the title of a popular song (281公里) and name of a hospital (解放军281医院), but most importantly it contains good numbers: 2 (爱=love) and 8 (发=making a fortune). The number is easy to remember.
