Company wants to trademark a logo for its new .moi domain name.
Amazon Registry Services has filed its first U.S. trademark for an individual top level domain name, a figurative mark for its new .moi domain name (see image).
Moi means “me” in French.
It has also launched a barebones page at nic.moi.
Amazon originally planned only to run closed domain name registries for its own use, but subsequently changed its applications to allow for offering domain names to the public. It remains a bit of a mystery how it plans to do this and to what extent it will offer the domains to the public. A trademark filing it made in 2014 might tip off some of its plans.
The company’s .moi application with ICANN gives few details about its plans and provides nothing specific about .moi.

Will this also give them claim on all ***.moi? Quite of a case! It is like Verisign willing to TM “.com”.

It’s a trademark application for a logo, not the plaint text .moi
