This one goes to eleven.
Today is Domain Name Wire’s 11th birthday.
It might be a cliche to say a lot has happened since Domain Name Wire published its first post on March 9, 2005. But it’s true on a couple fronts: changes in the domain name business and changes in the online media business.
In the domain name world, we’ve gone from talking about domain parking to discussing new domain extensions to thanking China for keeping everything moving.
On the media side of the business, online publications continue to take a bite out of print while these same online publications face tremendous new pressures in turn.
I’ve seen many people get complacent and drop the ball as the world changed around them. I’m doing my best to make sure that doesn’t happen to this publication.
On the content side, the Domain Name Wire Podcast just published its 74th weekly episode. I’ve also brought in outside writers. Joseph Peterson continues to write the most in-depth analysis of the expired domain name market you’ll find anywhere.
Soon, I’ll begin expanding coverage to topics tangentially related to domain names, such as ecommerce and web tools. Domain names are the first key to getting on the web, but they are nothing without websites.
On the sponsorship side, I’m so thankful for the many sponsors that make running a blog as a full-time business possible. Be sure to click around and visit their sites. I will soon begin accepting sponsored posts, but will always delineate between editorial and paid content (and will keep the latter to a minimum).
If you are interested in advertising on Domain Name Wire (the site or podcast), your support is always appreciated. Email andrew (at) domainnamewire.com for a media kit.
Thank you, readers, for allowing me to bring over 9,000 news stories about our wonderful industry to you over the past 11 years.

Andrew,
11 years in the domain business is a lifetime. In those days when it is cold outside and the best thing to do is to sit by the fireplace, and you must get up to write your blog, just remember that there is one guy looking forward to the next day to read your blog and what you saying. Happy Birthday.
