Arbeit most recently led marketing efforts for engineering trade group.
The Domain Name Association (DNA) has named Roy Arbeit its new executive director.
Notably, Arbeit has experience working for trade organizations but does not have a background in the domain name industry. This might be a smart move, bringing an outside perspective to the what can be an insular community. This is especially important because a chief goal of DNA is to spread awareness of new top level domain names.
Arbeit was most recently Managing Director, Marketing & Sales of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). At ASME, he was responsible for running marketing programs and communications to support the 140,000 member organization.
DNA has been without an executive director since Kurt Pritz left at the end of September. Pritz, who worked for ICANN before taking the DNA role, now works with China consulting firm Allegravita.
DNA members include Google, InternetX, GoDaddy and other large companies in the domain name industry.
