A look back at February in the domain name business.
February had an extra day thanks to “leap day”, and that was a good thing…there was so much domain name news to cram into a short month! From Tesla to Ted Cruz to great podcasts, it was a busy month at Domain Name Wire.
Here are the top five stories on Domain Name Wire last month, ranked by pageviews:
1. .Cloud Launch – the top story on Domain Name Wire was the launch of .Cloud, which got about 20,000 registrations in the first 24 hours of general availability.
2. Tesla finally acquires Tesla.com domain name – Domain Name Wire broke the news that Tesla acquired the Tesla.com domain name.
3. R.I.P. DNForum, 2001-2016 – it seems that DNForum, a long time gathering place for domain name investors, has shut down.
4. Ted Cruz: ICANN CEO is misleading the U.S. Senate – Republican presidential candidate was miffed at the ICANN CEO’s answers to his questions.
5. Did GoDaddy pay $35.5 million for Michael Berkens’ portfolio? – Yes, it did, which makes the price per domain much higher than recent domain portfolio acquisitions.
