26,000 names registered as of today.
The .Cloud top level domain name launched in General Availability on Tuesday, and had one of the most successful launches for a new top level domain name to date.
.Cloud crossed the 20,000 domain name milestone after about 24 hours of general availability. As of this morning, it has about 26,000 registrations.
Most of the names have sold for about $25 retail at registrars. Ten premium domains have also sold through the registrar channel as well, mostly at the $15,000 price tier.
Tucows, GoDaddy, Name.com, United Domains and 1&1 have been the top five registrars so far, in that order.
The U.S. accounts for over a quarter of registrations, with Italy and Germany not far behind. (.Cloud is offered by an Italian company.)
Lots of premiums. Just performed a registrar search of Data.cloud and the acquisition price is $125,000. Other keywords like News.cloud, Media.cloud, Education.cloud, Banking.cloud, Access.cloud are $62,500 each.
Data.cloud has incredible business potential as a future brand, imo.
