Chase registers domain names for new Golden State Warriors arena in San Francisco.
It looks like the new arena to house the Golden State Warriors will be called the Chase Center.
The NBA basketball team is slated to move back to San Francisco in a couple years. On Friday, JP Morgan Chase & Co registered a number of domain names that suggest it is buying naming rights to the new stadium.
The company registered:
ChaseCenterGSW.com
ChaseCenterSF.com
ChaseWarriorsArena.com
ChasCenter.com
ChaseCener.com
ChaseCenteer.com
ChaseCentre.com
ChaseCnter.com
ChaseEnter.com
The company acquired the domain name ChaseCenter.com earlier this year through its brand protection registrar MarkMonitor.
Although Chase could merely be in the running for the new arena, the registration of so many typos suggests it’s a done deal.
In 2013 I scooped that Levi’s was buying naming rights to a stadium based on its domain registrations. Those registrations were for the new San Franciso 49ers stadium.
Mega Congratulations to Andrew & DNW…according to the San Francisco Business Times, “Domain Name Wire first broke the news by looking at website addresses that Chase had registered.”
Now that’s “keeping your eye on the ball.”
