Company uses bid.taxi for new ride-hailing technology.
Back in November, Sedo reported the sale of Bid.Taxi for €2,000. I reached out to the buyer to understand why it bought the domain name and chose a new top level domain.
Command Software Services Ltd. began offering taxicab dispatch systems in 1991. Its dispatch systems are marketed under the name Cab Master.
“We supply taxi companies throughout the UK but are now focused on moving into providing Platform Based Taxi booking service which bypasses the taxi companies and connects directly with the driver, in the same way as Uber, for example,” Command Software Director David Wright told Domain Name Wire.
As the for-hire car business moves toward app-based hailing, the company is launching its new service called Bid Taxi. It originally bought the domain name BidTaxi.com, but decided to go with the domain Bid.Taxi for the site. BidTaxi.com forwards to Bid.Taxi.
Wright said he became aware that .taxi domain names were available through his registrar, 123reg.co.uk. .Taxi is offered by Donuts, which has a couple hundred top level domain names and must rely on the registrar channel to help get the word out.
Good, New gtlds are picking up.
I do got few offers for my .taxi domains like app.taxi, call.taxi, hire.taxi, fast.taxi but I was not interested to sell
Best extension for geo.taxi as well
Say London.taxi, Paris.taxi
.taxi along with .tours are some of the most interested gtlds for tourism related businesses. I know because I sold some here in Athens.
Incredibly poor logo. The coloured part reads “BTD” not “BID”.
How could anybody sign that artwork off without realising?
quite impressive with the domain names there… thank god they opened up the flood on the domain name extensions
