A Las Vegas Mexican restaurant turned a robbery into a viral video hit, giving the .Vegas top level domain name a bit of publicity at the same time.
Frijoles & Frescas was recently robbed. That sucks for the restaurant, but it managed to turn surveillance video of the robbery into a viral video hit that is giving it publicity and likely leading to the identification of the perpetrators.
The restaurant uses the domain name FrijolesAndFrescas.com, but also owns the shortcut Frijoles.vegas (which forwards to the .com). The end of its video shows the Frijoles.vegas domain name.
Maybe I’ll stop by this restaurant while in Las Vegas for NamesCon. The tacos definitely look yummy.

VegasFrijoles.com was available as of 12.30pm Eastern today (some much for no good dot com’s left). Seems to be a better choice as it far more memorable (does not require additional domain name education for the general public).

Nah, I like frijoles.vegas better.

Nah, I like frijoles.vegas better. Sorry to hear you’re so much against advancement.

Wouldn’t hurt the domain industry any, PR-wise, for a group of NamesCon attendees to go en masse to chow down on frijoles at Frijoles.vegas. I’d be down.
