As company continues to evolve, it files trademarks for likely new slogan.
Neustar has been shifting its revenue base from a telecom contract to marketing, domain names and more. Based on recent trademark filings, it appears the company will adopt the slogan “Linking What Matters” going forward.
The company filed six intent-to-use trademark applications for “Linking What Matters”, and the goods and services descriptions cover basically everything the company offers.
That includes, of course, managing top level domain names.
Neustar filed the applications last week. You can view them online at Trademark247.

And, of course, they neglected to register LinkingWhatMatters.com. That was registered 2 days ago by someone in China.
6 trademarks filed for the phrase, but $8 for the domain? Why would domains matter to a domain registry?
Jaw dropping.

Wow. Well, to put it in the form of an understatement, that certainly is remarkable. Now on to my usual comment about Neustar…

But first I’ll digress…

Probably not anymore, ay?

And now, to remind everyone – again – and especially those who once had high hopes and thoughts about .US:
(“.us – what’s that?”)
It’s been over 13 years since .US was released in April 2002, and the American public still scarcely even knows that it exists, and certainly doesn’t care. In every other major country on earth in the developed world that would be a bizarre and extreme anomaly, yes?
Thanks, Neustar.
