A condo board, marijuana company and rugby site bought domain names last week.
Is the low-hanging fruit in short domain names gone? Sedo’s sales and dollar volume dropped this week. It turned in 602 transactions totaling $1.1 million. That’s nothing to sneeze at, but is lower than previous weeks.
No matter. This column is about end user domain name sales. YogaShop.com and TheHairShop.com are still in escrow, but at $20k each, they’re definitely end user purchases. Sharks.tv sold for $15,000, likely to Discovery (or, as a reader pointed out, the NHL Sharks team).
Here’s a look at some of the end user domain name sales from the past week on Sedo:
(You can view previous lists like this here. If you’d like to learn how to sell your domain names like these on Sedo, download this report.)
YogaShop.com $20,000 – this domain name is still in escrow, but at the price, it’s definitely an end user.
AllOutRugby.com $3,000 – the buyer Media24 Intelprop Holdings operates the site VodacomRugby.co.za
AscendMed.com $1,000 – Recruiting firm Intermountain Staffing will likely use this for its hospital staffing services.
Arts.eu €7,950 – The domain name is now owned by ARTS Holding SE, an aviation company that uses the domain name Arts.aero.
Wigest.com $900 – Wigest is a customer service app.
Sharks.tv $15,000 – There’s no whois listing for this domain name right now, but it was purchased by a CSC client. My money is on Discovery, which uses CSC for its domain name management.
Staniforth.co.uk £750 – Staniforth Architects Limited in the UK.
Buyergraphics.com $950 – A Mark Monitor client bought this domain name. Buyergraphics is apparently an advertising term related to demographics.
TheHairShop.com $20,000 – Roosevelt Beauty Aides, Inc. is the seller. Whois hasn’t updated to the buyer, but at this price it’s certainly an end user. There’s a Los Angeles company that has filed trademarks on this term.
BaldorFoods.com $4,559 – New York food company Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc.
WatersEdgeCondo.com $1,895 – Board of the Water’s Edge Condomium in Rye, New York.
ZMequity.com €3,900 – Zelnick Media is a private equity company investing in media and communications companies.
Ravetol.com $850 – Nutralliance provides ingredients for food, nutritional and pharmaceutical companies. Ravetol is one of its recent product introductions.
allohotel.com $1,695 – Buyer Hootel FZ LLC operates a hotel booking site.
OpenDev.com $3,000 – Russian mobile app integration company OpenDev Ltd. It uses the domain name open-dev.su. .SU is the old Soviet Union country code.
PersonalDomainName.com $1,895 – Does this count as an end user? Dwayne Walker of Rightside bought this domain name.
BlankCards.com $4,000 – Tele-Pak bought this domain name and forwards it to BlankCards.us.
Ahainc.com $8,000 – Alling Henning Associates is a marketing firm. Its website is Aha-Writers.com.
ClearFoods.com $7,000 – How’s this for a cool business? Clear Labs analyzes food at the molecular level to help brands differentiate on quality.
ChristianPublications.com $5,500 – The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago.
OriginHomes.com $1,795 – Property developer Select Property Group. I imagine this is one of its new brands.
Hycore.com $3,000 – HyCore International sells a wheel that turns your bike into an electric bike.
SensePerMile.com $1,000 – the buyer is setting up a site about earning frequent flyer miles.
Cannar.com $6,000 – Cannar, a marijuana products investment firm.
420.agency $799 – Two public end user marijuana domains sales in one week? Yep. Buyer Iron Donuts runs a site called Rasta Empire.
Sharks.tv – likely to NHL, as in Sharks the team. CSC has been scooping up all the NHL related .tv names. I’m assuming NBA/NFL is next!
Didn’t think of that one — thanks for the intel!
