Lessons from a guy who has sold over $3 million in domain names.
Eric Borgos developed one of his best domain names, Bored.com, and sold the site for $4.5 million. He went on to sell over $3 million of domain names after that. On today’s show, he’ll explain how he developed his sites, what has worked…and what hasn’t. Eric will also explain why he bought two bricks-and-mortar flower shops site unseen, and about the toy he created that was sold at Toys”R”Us. He will also discuss his new book “Make Money Online”.

I have the utmost respect for Eric, but it appears that his only successful venture was buying his initial portfolio of premium domains at hand registered prices. All attempts to build out these domains (with the exception of bored) has met with failure. Eric’s flipping attempts seem to be a wash…buy weights.com to flip but instead lose a few thousand. Unless Eric can show us how to build a time machine to go back to the early 90s and grab some premo domains, I’m not sure how he’ll show us how to “make money online”
Part of figuring out how to make money online is knowing what not to do, so hopefully people will learn from some of my mistakes.
Also, my book has some practical info (like links to useful resources) that people can use to help their business. You are right, people should not do exactly what I do. My book is about more than that though. For example, I give ideas about business ventures I am not doing but other people might want to try. And it is about certain philosophies of how to do business. Any book that actual tells you specifically how to make money is probably out of date by the time it comes out. It is usually too late once a bunch of other people start doing it.
Excellent interview Andrew and and really your very interesting Guest — Eric Borgos… A lot of great information shared of both his good and the bad which is always very helpful as a reminder and a tool in the domain business…
Thanks very much Eric for sharing your Wonderful Report — I copied it and will definitely read it a couple more times and will keep it for reference…
