Famous Four Media releases three domain names this week and Donuts sends four to Early Access.
Famous Four Media launches three top level domain names in general availability on Wednesday. All of the domain names can be registered for about $25-$30.
.Date: This domain name will compete with two from Donuts: .Dating (3,000 registrations) and .Singles (6,000 registrations).
.Faith: KeepThe.Faith? Donuts has had success with .Church with over 11,000 registrations. Faith is broader, but .Church has direct appeal to churches.
.Review: This is closes to Rightside’s .Reviews (16,000 registrations). I think .Reviews is a better domain. It will also compete with Top Level Spectrum’s .Feedback.
Famous Four Media could top all of its competitors in terms of registrations if it drops its drawers on pricing, as it has done with .party and .science.
Donuts has four domain names heading to Early Access on Wednesday.
.Golf: Sports domain names aren’t doing so well. For comparison: .football has 2,700 registrations, .tennis about 1,000, .fishing just over 1,000, .fish about 3,000. .Golf domains will run you about $40-$50.
.Tours: a good travel domain name. Donuts’ .Vacations has around 5,000 registrations. While .Vacations domain names run about $25 or so, .Tours is $40-$50 at the registrars I checked.
.Gold: Can you compare this to color domain names such as .black? Or will it mostly be used for its precious metal connotation? Either way, it’s expensive at about $100 per year. Or 12 of these domains for an ounce of gold.
.Plus: the market for .plus seems somewhat limited. Domains are $25-$30 retail.
Don’t forget that Donuts is also releasing its collision domains. Regular pricing begins on Wednesday for generic domains such as .WTF and .Today. Early Access begins for technology domains such as .Computer and .Codes.
I think Donut is the ‘famous four’ here by releasing 4 domains to EA. Anyway, Famous Four Media catches my fancy with its pricing, I think they will compete better.
I am impressed: Tours is the name of a French city but I wonder if the mayor is even aware of this.
