Good luck pronouncing this domain name without an explanation.
A San Francisco startup hopes to start delivering pharmacy items by drone soon. But finding the company via word-of-mouth (or even on the app store) might be a bit challenging.
The company’s name is pronounced Quickie, but it is using the domain name QuiQui.me.
Qui is pronounced two different two different ways in the same name. That means company representatives are going to have to do a lot of explaining when they tell people about the company.
It’s so odd that the company includes the pronunciation in its logo (see image).
You’ve heard for years that companies have resorted to weird spellings because all the good .com’s are taken. I guess people will start arguing all the good .me’s are taken, too.
Here’s a tip for QuiQui.me: Quickie.delivery is available for less than $50 at your favorite domain name registrar.
Quickie.delivery sound like an escort service name.
Fair point 🙂
You are right. That is a terrible, terrible name. Zero chance people will figure out their quirky spelling and pronunciation. Plus they didn’t even get it in .com, so they’ll have to explain that, too.
I wonder if they tried to get the .com. It’s listed on Domain Name Sales.
It’s probably $400,000 on Domain Name Sales, still PS.
I suspect the domain is currently a secondary consideration for this company. They are more likely to attract attention with their business model for now. Then, after raising capital, they will likely acquire a better domain name.
Maybe so. But wouldn’t you at least want something that’s pronounceable for when you’re trying to create buzz?
I wonder if texting has altered comprehension of language enough where that may not be as much of an issue in the future.
I would still choose something that is easier to relate/pronounce.
QuiQui.me
is TiTi.buzz
Pronounced “Shitty” … “Ti” as in “pollution”.

Good Lord! I’d forgotten that.
I read that as “Qui Qui” – French for “Who Who” (pronounced kee-kee) & would assume it had something to do with a people search, and not in English. Seriously terrible name.
