Domain name was transferred to eName, a popular home for stolen domain names.
The person who registered X3.com in 1995 has filed a lawsuit to recover the domain name, which he says was stolen from his DreamHost account.
Anthony Alfieri-Crispin alleges (pdf) that the defendant managed to steal the domain name from his account and quickly transfer it to…where else…eName.
According to a comment on Domain Name Wire, this transfer happened in the matter of less than 25 minutes. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of a quick transfer from DreamHost to eName, suggesting that the hosting service might need to button up its domain name transfer process. DreamHost is an eNom reseller.
Alfieri-Crispin’s lawsuit is against the named registrant in whois for x3.com, but also seeks transfer as an in rem action. That would probably need to be filed against the domain name itself.

Verisign will have to do their job and pluck the stolen domain away from ename, as they did in the case of ShadesDaddy. Some more thoughts on X3.com : http://domaingang.com/domain-crime/alert-x3-com-is-currently-a-stolen-domain-moved-from-enom-to-ename/

strange that he says it happened in 25 minutes as enom disabled instant transfers since at least march. transfers now take 5 days minimum from enom.

Maybe it’s different for resellers?

Welp… the 2-ish am transfer notification email said I had four days to stop the process, but when I logged into the control panel at 4 am it was gone. Apparently, if you have full control of the domain you can expedite the transfer. IP address from across the globe were involved in this little effort.
And yes, I am hoping the courts direct Verisign to re-establish it under my control at Dreamhost/enom.
