Search rankings on mobile devices are shifting starting today.
Today is the day. Google has begun changing search results on mobile phones based on if sites are mobile friendly or not.
According to a blog post from the company, the search rankings rollout will start today but take about “a week or so” before it gets to all pages in the index.
The rankings are on a page-by-page basis, so site owners can’t just make a mobile-friendly home page and skip the rest of the site.
The good news for website owners that haven’t mobilized yet is that Google determines if a site is good for mobile each time its Googlebot for smartphones crawls the page. In other words, failure to be mobile ready today doesn’t mean a site will be sent to purgatory forever.
Also, Google stresses that non-mobile sites can still rank well on smartphone searches if the content is significantly better than competing mobile-friendly sites.
Frequently Asked Questions about the change are available on Google’s site.

Hello Andrew,
GOOGLE takes it upon themselves to force their Monopolistic Will on Domain Name System Hierarchy Owners. This is the same GOOGLE that is systematically trying to remove Domain Name System URLs from their Monopolistic Browser.
As Michael Costello once said GOOGLE is racing towards Anti- Competition Reprimand. We believe GOOGLE is the Natural Enemy of ALL Domain Name System Stakeholders.JAS 4/21/15

Translation; If you flip Google-biots the bird, you do nothing and users continue to demand your site, google will give the people what they want to avoid breaking the utility of Google.

Hello Frank.Schilling,
GOOGLE has the same fate Apple had in 1980 Stock IPO offering Where your style Media Hype did not help Apples Stock Price. IBD
Google in next 24mos. stock price in our opinion has a 90% chance of having its stock price cut in half. We cannot Guarantee this, but we can assure you that it will happen. JAS 4/21/15

Hello Andrew,
This action by GOOGLE is clearly Ant-Competitive. The storm front is coming and the white water is rising. When the Levee breaks lots of Google fans will be without bathing suits when the water drains away. JAS 4/21/15

This mandate from Google has presented a really big obstacle for me. I have a successful site that is not a ‘responsive’ design but which is accessible & searchable on most smart phones. It ranks well, has traffic, and produces revenue of which Google gets the lion’s share. Seems counter intuitive that Google would demote it – as the content is actually good.
Wordpress plug-ins for mobile did not work well. To redesign the site would be a huge undertaking, time intensive. So I’m waiting to see what the impact will be.

Hello, M.Menius,
Google cares less about Small Online Businesses, and are Predators of All Small Online Businesses. GOOGLE Rolls over Small Businesses like a tank on the loose. JAS 4/21/15

Social media is controlled by about 10 monopolies.. Yes the Internet could be a free and equal platform.. but Google, Facebook, and about 8 others want to own every piece for themselves. And not pay people anything who contribute so much toward development and content. These are greedy companies, yes, including the ones who do things to try to put a smiley face on their greed = reddit.
