Car.info and Portfolio.me highlight this week’s list.
Sedo’s marketplace handled 669 transactions last week for a total of $1.3 million in sales. The top public sale was Car.info, a staggering price for a .info in light of all of the new top level domains available. Yes, “car” is a great second level domain, but it’s still a surprising purchase.
Be sure to tune in Monday to the Domain Name Wire Podcast, when my guest will be Sedo CEO Tobias Flaitz. We’ll discuss trends in domain name parking and domain sales.
Patagonia.nl €2,000 – Clothing company Patagonia picked up this Netherlands ccTLD.
Portfolio.me $10,700 – Martin Investment Management in Evanston, Illinois.
Vobank.com £10,000 – The same company that owns Vobank.com.cn bought this domain name. Based on a Google translation, they offer some sort of financial services but I’m not sure that it’s a “traditional” bank.
Car.info $75,000 – As best as I can tell, this is the buyer.
Soap.club $5,000 – Flat World Networks bought this domain, and there’s already a site up offering a soap subscription service.
IndustrialDesign.org $1,995 – Luca Casini, a furniture design studio.
TeenSuccess.org $900 – Teen Success Inc, which uses the matching .net, bought this domain. This group helps teen mothers finish school and “breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty”.
HealthOptions.org $977 – Maine Community Health Options, which uses MaineOptions.org for its website.
Osmosis.net $880 – IT services company Osmosis Development, which uses OsmosisDevelopment.com for its web presence.
TruQC.com $3,500 – TruQC, which has been using the domain TruqCapp.com, offers a quality control and process documentation technology built for the iPad.
TransInd.com $877 – Transnation Title Agency of Michigan, which uses TransMI.com. My guess is Ind stands for Indiana or another service line.
Cyberobics.com $22,500 – German company McFit GmbH. As best I can tell, it’s a workout program.
EverythingEnergy.com $7,500 – New Jersey company NRG Energy, Inc.
SonicInc.com $725 – Sonic Computer Systems in Lebanon.
VitalizeMe.com $1,495 – This domain was purchased by the owner of Vitalyze.me, which appears to be a new health plan/service. Vitalize.me is owned by another party.
HempConsultant.com $11,111 – Hempconsult GmbH, which owns HempConsult.com.
OOShopping.com $3,999 – Shopping site OO Shopping BV, which uses the Netherlands ccTLD OOshopping.nl.
Weejuns.com $7,000 – Wilsons Leather, maker of leather accessories, bought this domain. A bit of research shows that this was a popular name for a loafer about 50 days ago.
PerformanceWise.com $900 – car parts seller Performance-Wise.com wisely purchased the unhyphenated version of its domain.
SingularityProject.com $5,000 – StarDock bought the domain. I believe this is a Massively multiplayer online game; the company has a site for it at ashesofthesingularity.com.
AFCU.net €1,295 – American First Credit Union in Ogden, Utah.
HealthySavings.com $5,000 – Solutran, a payments services company, just launched the Healthy Savings program that rewards health insurance members for healthier eating.
