Sydney.buzz first of many .buzz websites to be featured on Wheel of Fortune.
Last night marked the start of two weeks of Wheel of Fortune shows with prizes sponsored by domains ending in the .Buzz top level domain name.
The promotion is not being undertaken by the .buzz registry. Howard Lefkowitz, who is developing about 400 domain names, is behind the promotion. Talk about an end user evangelist!
Last night’s prize was sponsored by Sydney.buzz. There are some unofficial Wheel of Fortune fan sites out there with recaps. Apparently, after someone solved the puzzle “Cruising Sydney Harbour,” the announcer said “She earns another $4,900 & will be CRUISING SYDNEY HARBOR courtesy of sydney.BUZZ.” Here are some screenshots:
People that watch wheel of fortune will not see it as a web URL but simply a phrase.
I will have to tune in since I doubt I will see a .buzz domain anywhere else for a long time. Scarcer than the ivory billed woodpecker.
Since wheel of fortune’s demo is old people, i think they are wasting their time.
And the website is poorly formatted with buttons overlapping text…at least on my browsers so a bit of a piss poor effort all told as far as promoting the website.
Doesn’t matter what your web address is, if your website looks slap dash, I am unlikely to return.
They are just doing everything they did with Vegas.com, they used to advertise there, since Howard used to work there, just using same basic formula, but with domains that will not get audience traction as JZ mentioned the target is not web savvy enough to care. I don’t know where all this money keeps coming from but driving out of Vegas they had some billboards up past the outlets heading into CA.
