How .Club has soared to the top.
.Club has jumped out on the leaderboard with registrations, with over 150,000 to date. That’s part of the reason the company is valued at $25.4 million in its latest funding round.
On this episode, we chat with .Club founder and CEO Colin Campbell and CMO Jeff Sass about what the company is doing to make sure .Club is a success. We also discuss the current state of top level domain name rollouts.

Great Interview Andrew! Thanks.
Colin, when do you think you’ll have a WordPress Product available that we can use to build our .club? I have a .club that i’d like to build as soon as possible.
Colin Campbell says
Angela,
Its one of our top priorities. We are working out the kinks with a couple of sites right now. Working with opensource reduces the time to market but issues still remain. I am confident we can get it out by next quarter.
Angela S. says
Thanks for your response Colin! I am definitely looking forward to it.

Is .club going to fully support Spanish, Port, Italian and French ?

Colin Campbell says
We do plan on launching all of the IDNs including the ones you suggest. We have obtained approval from ICANN to launch them but are dealing with technical issues with our backend provider. These issues should be addressed by second quarter 2015.
Serg says
@Colin thanks for replying. Im not sure what backend provider problem mean, but if you look at your ( .club )’s RFC, public domain on ICANN’s page, the IDN mapping is incomplete, i would suggest not leaving for the 2nd quarter, if the football niche is still part of plans, i am saying so, because i like .club, but other extensions fully “latin and Germanic mapped” are appealing to some footbClubs, as we type … txs, s

Why is whois still not available after all this time? How is anyone to know the status of domains for which no info is available anywhere?

Andrew Allemann says
What do you mean whois isn’t available? Seems to be working fine.

Even though .club fails to reach their GA goal of 300 to 400k registration, I must applaud Colin Campbell and CMO Jeff Sass. They are the real marketing pros. Excellent 4P marketing strategies!!!
They know .club does not compete with .com but complement it. I totally agree with them that we’ll expand from a one-extension .com corporate site strategy to multiple extensions to brand the various aspects of a business.
However, I seriously suggest that they provide a one-stop solution asap in order to capture of hundreds of thousands of small clubs in the world. These clubs have no technical skills to set up DNS, emails, etc. Why not just make it simple for the average consumer to be able to register a name, pay for it, enter personal names and some club basic information, and then have a website running immediately? The current website setup and development at, for example, Go Daddy, is just too technical for the average consumer to swallow.
Serg says
I agree, on regards to “…to capture clubs all over the world” … he mentioned 5 countries, and reaching out globally as his personal quest, and yet .club still does not speak IDN properly, it doesnt fully support Spanish and it fails on many characters for Italian, Portuguese, French and German; it needs to be fixed in order to “conquer” all those small football ( soccer ) clubs around the world, …. awareness is the key indeed, but the reciprocity and knowledge on the business side, should match or exceed .. imho.. s
