I wonder how many dentists will be registering domain names on Christmas Eve?
Two new top level domain names launch this week, both on Christmas Eve and both from Rightside.
.Dentist and .Rehab exit the Early Access Program on Wednesday and revert to regular pricing.
The .dentist domains appear to be priced a little bit higher than most Rightside domains. GoDaddy is quoting a regular price of $49.99 and a sale price of $34.99. 101Domain quotes a $37.99 price.
Compare this to most Rightside domains that have launched with pricing around $29.99. That’s about how much you can expect to pay for .rehab domain names.
I like .dentist a lot, even though it faces competition from .dental. .Dentist is much better than .dental and priced a lot less, too. Dental has close to 5,000 registrations despite pricing around $50-$70.
As for .rehab, remember that this can mean more than just substance abuse. As Rightside pointed out at its recent investor day, there are uses for .rehab related to finance and construction. Of course, since Rightside figured this out, it also means it will be difficult to get domains related to these alternative uses at standard pricing.
