I’m very excited today to launch the Domain Name Wire Podcast.
Each week’s podcast will include an overview of the previous week’s domain name industry news followed by a guest from the Domain Name Industry.
The podcast will soon be available on iTunes, Stitcher and other services. Until then, you can play it directly on Domain Name Wire (below) or download the MP3.
My first guest is Ray King. In this episode, King talks about his history in the domain name business, including founding SnapNames and ICANNwiki. He’s currently founder and CEO of Top Level Design, a new top level domain name company. On the podcast, we discuss the early results and vision for .wiki and .ink, as well as the forthcoming domain .design.

Congratulations! Great job!
Just finished listening to the podcast. Very impressed. The audio quality is very good. Did you invest a lot on setting up a dedicated studio? I assume you were talking to Ray on the phone, right? I was surprised the sound quality was very good. I like the length of 30 minutes. My suggestion is to focus on analysis of current events related to domain investment. Anyone can report news, but very few can provide the analysis. Readers want to know not just the news, but what impact the news may have on their domain investment. Keep up your good work, Andrew.

Thanks Kassey. As of this evening, about 100 people have listened to the podcast. Not bad given that it’s not in iTunes and other podcasting systems yet.
As for sound…my office building has a podcast studio with sound baffling on the wall. I’m using a USB mic, boom, and shock mount. The guest recording is actually done over Skype using Pamela for Skype to record. I know Ray’s sound wasn’t as crisp as mine, so I’ll play with the recording software next time.
Good points on the analysis. I’ll give that some thought.
Any recommendations for future topics or guests?

The domain community is quite small and there are not many domain pros to interview. I like your blogs because you have insight. You can read news and dig out meaning from it. So, I’ll like to see you focus on this part. Just look around. The same news is often reported on many domain sites I browse everyday, but you are one of the very few who can go deeper and analyze. Domain News Commentator. That’s the keyword. BTW, please keep the mp3 download option. I don’t use iTune etc. Thanks.

Thanks Kassey. Will definitely keep the MP3 download and streaming options.
