Group that promoted .green domain name for years is back at the table, and Kathy Nielson has joined the team.
Remember DotGreen Community, the company that wanted to run the .green top level domain name but gave up in the face of competition?
The company never really went away, but it famously gave up its bid to run .green after determining it wouldn’t be able to win an auction with three other applicants. It was very early to the table and spent lavishly to market .green before the application period even opened.
Well, it’s baaaack.
Afilias, which won the auction for .Green, has partnered with DotGreen Community. It seems that Afilias will be the backend provider and leave the business side of .green to DotGreen Community.
DotGreen Community also announced that Kathy Nielson has left Sedo to join the company, where she will be Executive Director of Registry Operations and Channel Relations. Nielson had been with Sedo since 2009.

Congratulations from the TLD Registry team, Kathy, and best wishes for your work with .green!
Joseph Peterson says
People who give a damn and stick their neck out for a project are often the best people to run it. Smart move for Afilias to put such a person at the helm.

Why would I buy this over .ECO?
Joseph Peterson says
#1
I know people interested in living green.
Never met anybody concerned with living eco.
#2
Count the syllables.
#3
Eco is deficient on its own. It’s strictly a prefix — e.g. eco-friendly, ecoterrorists. Yet as a TLD, it ends up a suffix.
#4
.ECO
is prone to .EC or .CO typos.

Joseph Peterson raises good points.
In addition it hasn’t been delegated. .green is the only environmental TLD to be delegated.
Also “green” represents environmental sustainability globally and across different languages.

Kathy Nielson has joined .green community!… thats a good news for .green community… congrats Kathy.
