Celebrated country music singer gets Dolly.country and other domains in pioneer program.
.Club got 50 Cent, .Country gets Dolly Parton.
The .country domain name, being launched by Minds + Machines in partnership with Uniregistry, announced today that Dolly Parton will be a member of its pioneer program. This means Parton gets a handful of .country domain names and agrees to lend her likeness and marketing support to the domain name.
Parton’s .country domain names include dolly.country, 9to5.country, dollywood.country and queenof.country.
It’s not clear from a press release if Parton is doing a broader paid endorsement deal of .country. The release indicates that .country pioneers members “receive their choice of domain names ahead of general release in exchange for their help in marketing the new top-level domain.” I’ve confirmed that this is not a paid endorsement (like 50 Cent), Parton is just a member of the pioneer program. She gets the domains in return for the registry getting promotional value.
.Country domain names go into general availability on September 15.
