Medistry’s application for .Med is alive and well following a decision Friday by ICANN.
ICANN ruled that the Independent Objector should not have been able to file a community objection against Medistry’s application because there were no informal objections to the application.
Medistry is backed by Cleveland Clinic.
I described Medistry’s appeal in detail in this prior post.
Medistry provided letters from two groups that were thought to have objected to its application, saying that they didn’t actually mean to object to the application overall.
I suspect that, given the applicants, American Hospital Association National and Association of Boards of Pharmacy would much prefer to see Medistry’s application prevail. Medistry is backed by Cleveland Clinic, a highly respected healthcare institutions.
The community objection against Google’s .med application is still standing. That means Medistry’s .med application is only in a contention set with HEXAP SAS.
This is the first objection to be “overturned” via ICANN’s Board reconsideration process.
