Amazon registers 200 or more domain names related to new phone.
Amazon.com unveiled its Amazon Fire Phone yesterday. At the same time, it went on a defensive registration binge for names related to the new product.
I count 200 domain name registrations yesterday related to the Fire Phone. This will give you an idea of the breadth of Amazon.com’s defensive registration efforts:
4gFirePhone.com, amazon-firephone.com, amazonfirephonecover.com, amazonfirephoneunlocked.com, firephonejailbreak.com, firephonespecs.com, firesmartphonepromocode.com, freefirephoneapps.com, firephoneprime.com, firephonedataplan.com.
Or my personal favorite…FuegoTelephono.com.
The company also registered dozens of domain names related to phone features including Dynamic Perspective (which looks really cool) and Firefly.
FuegoTelephono.com?
FuegoTelephono.com!
Sometimes I’m amazed that MarkMonitor can fool Amazon and companies like them into paying for their inept and wasteful services.
What on earth is FuegoTelephono.com?
If it’s meant to be Spanish, then MarkMonitor failed in 2 ways:
(1) The word is spelled “telefono” with an “F”;
(2) The word order would be reversed: “Telefono Fuego”.
Apparently somebody else registered TelefonoFuego.com today (June 18). It’s under privacy. No, it wasn’t me.
Amazon will pay for services like this, but I’ve never been able to get a hearing with them. MarkMonitor may not bother to learn which domains are relevant to brand protection, but they certainly convince big brands to pay them.
Yes, I admit to being envious.
lol, that was definitely a typo/auto-correct.
they dont own firemobile.com firemobiles.com
They don’t own “firephonesucks.com” or “firephonesux.com”
