Company releases sales data for first time ever.
Domain name broker Domain Holdings has released statistics about its sales for the first time ever. The company plans to release data every quarter going forward.
While not disclosing specific sale prices, the company reported aggregate numbers.
The company says it sold $3,381,634 worth of domain names last quarter. The average price per sale was $36,756.89. While averages can be misleading, this does help generate another useful statistic: the company sold 92 domain names last quarter, or about one a day.
According to the report, the company did this in part by sending 60,000 emails and making 10,000 phone calls.
The report also notes that half of the sales were to U.S. buyers and about one-third were sold to people in China. Three-quarters of sales were to end users.
It looks like 100 phone calls and 600 emails are what it takes to sell the name making $350 per call or $50 per email. Not a bad business model at al.
