UK health software company claims that owner of Patient.com is cybersquatting.
Egton Medical Information Systems Limited, an electronic healthcare records software company, has filed a UDRP against the domain name Patient.com.
The domain name was registered in 1997 but was acquired at Sedo in 2012, according to historical whois records. I don’t believe the sale was ever made public. The domain name currently resolves to a “coming soon” page.
Egton owns a consumer facing website called Patient.co.uk.
It appears that Egton, which primarily serves the UK market, just filed a trademark application in the United Kingdom for “Patient”. (Go to page 2 of this link to see it.) The application was filed February 10 and is still under examination.
Barring any extreme circumstances here, I can’t help but think that Egton is seriously misunderstanding or abusing the policy.

Can someone please educate me here. What the hell are we wasting our time listening to FRIVOLOUS claims? Anyone agrees this is FRIVOLOUS or would like you like to explain WTF is going on.

There ought to be a requirement to put at least $10k in escrow (or more, say $100k for firms with over say $10m in revenue) when filing a udrp. If your a complaint is found frivolous or rdnh the money is used to pay the defendant’s out of pocket costs, and any left over goes to improving and managing the domain name system.

Something just does not ring true on this claim. I have found Two things which please pass to the owners of the patient.com
1. The wikipedia entry states change of name from Patient UK in 2012.
2. The Patient.co.uk domain name shows a change in March 2013 and I believe that they may have bought that only recently. I also see the address for the domains shows as;
Artillery House, Fort Fareham Business Park
Newgate Lane
Fareham
Hampshire
PO14 1AH
United Kingdom
which does not appear to be the Complainants address. I see a contrived UDRP but who knows.
