AV.com, Sled.com, and other Yahoo domain names go on the auction block.
Sedo is holding an auction this month in which it is selling over 100 of Yahoo’s domain names.
The auction runs November 11-21. Currently there are just 29 domains listed on the auction page, but an email I received from Sedo says there will be more than 100 domains in the auction.
The names are quite good. Here are some of my favorites:
Sled.com – would be good for a winter sportsgoods site or can be branded. Reserve under $100k.
AV.com – perfect for Audio Visual site. This domain was a shortcut for Altavista. The reserve is $1M-$1.5M. I don’t know if it will sell in a short auction, but I think the domain is worth the price.
iRecruiter.com – a great recruitment domain. Reserve under $25k.
Westerns.com – I’d prefer Western.com for a western clothing store, as Westerns.com is more tailored for a movie site. Reserve of $100k-$250k might be too much.
Sandwich.com – Great brandable, although some people might have trouble spelling it. Reserve under $100k.
Webserver.com – Given that Servers.com just sold for $300k, I think the $250k-$500k reserve is high.
Update: Voicemail.com has been added at $250k-$500k. Another great domain.
Is Yahoo going to be bringing end users to the auction to pay these prices? Don’t see much there in terms of potential resales at these levels.
AV.com at $1M+… DL.com got $300k and those letters are much stronger.
DL.com better than AV.com? Not sure I agree on that one. Beyond the letters alone, the history of the AV.com domain might have some value.
SLED.COM is a aftermarket custom car site.Sure of that.
What do you mean?
Yeah…that is a tad foggy on my part. I meant to say that it would be ideal as a aftermarket custom car site. Sled being slang for a modded car.
av.com used to be altavista name..
In Japan, AV usually means ‘adult video’, so someone in Japan may buy av.com to run a porn site.
