Two letter domain sells for big bucks, but three letter domain and Tweeter brands fail to sell.
A domain name and intellectual property auction held by Hilco Streambank has concluded with a big two letter domain name sale.
Bidding for DL.com ended at 210,689, which was above the reserve price for the domain name. 7 bids were placed in the auction.
Also selling in the Hilco auction was the domain name FireDog.com and some associated intellectual property. I believe the final price was $32,750.
Two other big ticket auctions did not sell. A package of intellectual property from the defunct electronics firm Tweeter was one of the lots that didn’t sell. That package included the domains Tweeter.com and TWTR.com. TWTR is the propose stock ticker for Twitter. Also, an auction for ROW.com failed to get any bids.

Terrible HA. I cannot wait for post from Elliot to read his opinion why this domain name sells for so low amount.

Went about how I expected.

Very hard to Believe that “Twitter” Management would not Buy — at any price TWTR.com — especially with their New IPO coming out ? ? ?

I don’t know many companies that own their stock ticker as a domain name. I don’t know what they’d do with it.

Great Question Andrew —
Most of the Major League Stock Company’s on te NYSE & NASDAQ own & have their Stock Symbols and almost always in Dot-Com and it is a very important & critical Business Move…
#1 In “Twitters” Case with a Great Company & Large Social Network it is Extremely Counter Productive & Costly Not to Get their Stock Symbol Dot-Com — Especially if it is just sitting there at a Domain asset Auction with no Bidders and / or Reserve Not Met — And especially being the Price minimum or Reserve was $150K with No Bidders.
— And for that $ Price they also got a Lot More very useful & valuable Dot-Com Domains that would work out great for their New Public Stock Social Media Company Twitter — “TWTR”…
#2 Examples are:
— Comacast.com — using their Dot-Com symbol “CMCSA” for Investor relations and info…
— Yahoo.com — using their Dot-Com symbol “YHOO” for Re-Direct to their Traffic to Home Page — and also using their stock symbol YHOO as the Name of their investor relations info and communications page..
— Visa.com —.using their Dot-ME symbol ” V ” for Online Shopping made Simple & EZ…
#3 Like the “Domain King” Rick Schwartz Said Recently — The Dot-Com is the Key to the Biggest & Best Franchise Ever Known to Mankind !!!
#4 Been reading your great “DNW” letter for a long time and Thanks Very Much for the incredible work and super information…

I own FFIV.com I bought it years ago for a business that never developed. I recently noticed it’s also F5 Networks ticker symbol. I have it listed on sedo.com for sale right now but there have been no offers. F5 Networks is almost an 8 billion dollar computer company. Any suggestions on the best way to sell it?

It would be a great name for them to own on any account.
