Movie and TV producer among end users buying domain names last week.
Afternic sold over $1 million worth of domains last week, and many of the sales were to notable buyers.
Let’s start of with Highmark, which bought AHN.org for $50,000. I wrote about this sale yesterday.
The next four sales are what I’d call “global upgrades”. These are sales where a company already owns the matching ccTLD and bought .com:
Ascent Labs Ltd., which uses AscentLabs.ie, bought AscentLabs.com for $1,500.
Laboratoria Gemotest, which uses Gemotest.ru, bought Gemotest.com for $1,295.
Nova Verta International Spa in Italy, which uses the domain Novaverta.it, bought Novaverta.com for $1,800.
Fault Tolerant Systems, which uses the domain FaultTolerantSystems.co.uk, bought FaultTolerantSystems.com for $1,000.
Now, on to the rest of the list…

The owner of HomeFinancingCenter.com protected itself with the purchase of the matching .net for $1,500.
Water Select, which sells water regulating valves, lost the hyphen in its domain by purchasing WaterSelect.com for $2,500.
DP Operating Company, Inc. operates a site at DotPhoto.com where you can print photos on products such as mugs and mousepads. It just bought DotLogo.com for $1,200, and it doesn’t take much imagination to figure out what they’ll do with it.
Media company Gem Group bought GemOnline.com for $4,000.
Papa John’s bought its tag line BetterIngredientsBetterPizza.com for $1,395. (Hey, it’s cheaper than a UDRP).
